"Tour Stop 148" Documentary (Worldwide)

Documentary content shot by Dougie Mackie

Following the success of his Miss Saigon documentary, Dougie was approached to document content for Michael Bublé's next live DVD which was to be shot in Birmingham over 3 days, directed by Brett Sullivan. Dougie's task was to shoot behind the scenes coverage and interviews of the Birmingham recordings, then jump on one of MB's tour buses for the next 2 weeks and come up with as many stories as possible, which could then be added into the final piece.

This basically meant working 16-18 hour days, for 2 weeks straight, with a whole lot of kit along side some very talented people. This resulted in approximately thirty 5-10 minute short narratives covering a range of topics from how the production is put together, to the internal relationships between crew members and their struggles with touring for 2 years straight.

Initially Michael really hated the idea of doing another typical "live DVD", though once he saw how this film was structured, relying heavily on Dougie's content, he loved it so much he decided to released it as his very first movie, 'Michael Bublé Tour Stop 148', which was released in theaters worldwide for a special one night only event.

The docu-style film features performances from the recent world tour and highlights his hard-working crew and the sacrifices made to put on the show. The film was shown in cinemas September 27 in USA and September 25th 2016 in select countries globally.

"THE HEAT IS BACK ON" (TV & DVD)

Directed by Dougie Mackie

Dougie directed, shot and edited this feature length documentary with the help of Steam Motion and Sound in Soho London. Distributed by Universal Pictures, Dougie spent months shadowing the 2014 company for Cameron Mackintosh's new reimagined version of the show, as it approached it's 25th anniversary. Using multi camera techniques and various microphone set ups, Dougie self-shot the coverage and interviewed members of the show, while Steam's own Director Brett Sulivan shot the new performances which were integrated into the piece.

Featuring interviews with producer Cameron Mackintosh, authors Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and many of the award-winning cast and creative team, this documentary is one of the most revealing documentaries ever about how a major musical production comes to life.
